The Duck-Rabbator Dopplebock is a powerfully malty German-style lager. The malty/grainy flavors so dominate this beer, it’s like a whole loaf of bread in every glass! Is it a beverage or is it a meal? It’s both.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. I’ve had the rottenest luck picking up this one, so thanks to Jay at Beer Run for making SURE I got a sixer this time. Pours a very dark ruby highlighted brown color. Clear. Medium sized frothy brown head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of chocolate, toffee and faint raisin notes. Big and rich. The taste is caramel, chocolate, leafy hops, raisins, some toastiness. Medium-full bodied. Faint hint of alcohol. Quite a nice beer.

Deep caramel in color with a thin tan head. Dark ripened fruit aroma with sweet caramel malts, yeast, chocolate, and brown sugar. Sticky, syrupy body. Full of flavor. Sweet caramel, dark fruits, lightly bittersweet chocolate, and candied sugars. Rich and tasty.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a deep amber glare and a small tan head. Aroma is dark malty and caramelish. Sweet caramelish and breadish. Lasting sweet and overripe fruity into the far finish.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, brown sugar, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, bread, brown sugar, and metal, leading to a dry caramel and metallic finish. Thanks Ryan for bringing it over.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of FrumptyDumpty. Pours a clear orangey brown with a beige head. Loads of burned caramel in the nose - and alcohol. Solid body, again lots of burned caramel, vanilla and pumpernickel. Ends sweet with a warming alcohol. Another very well crafted Duck-Rabbit - and close to style. My kinda beer! 010910

Bottle from Bruisin Ales. Pours a reddish dark brown with a foamy one finger beige/tan head. Aroma is rather chocolate over somewhat roasted malt. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor seems very chocolate with some plummy notes. Finishes not all that sweet with some chocolate astringent aspect. This is very tasty.
