We worked with our great friends at Stagecoach Coffee in Cooperstown to come up with a custom coffee blend that complimented our base beer. Sumatra, Papua New Guinea, and French roast form a combination with chocolate, earth, spice, fruit, and light roast characteristics. Following primary fermentation the beer is cold crashed and yeast is removed. Coffee is added to a secondary tank and the beer is circulated through the freshly roasted beans to extract even more flavor and aroma.

I would like to thank Ommegang for making this brew to celebrate my 2616 rating. light brown poured at Stags Head. nose is cocoa and coffee. Tastes of odd coffee, cocoa, yeast, florals, milky, and fruity. kind of an odd duck beer doesn’t quite come together.

750 ml bottle purchased at Garys Beverage, Portsmouth. Almost a clear brown color with slow steady carbonation. Aroma is green coffee beans, (old coffee grounds) light hints of powdered cocoa. Flavor is sadly much like the aroma, powered cocoa and old stale coffee beans. This has a bottle date on the neck of 19 March 2015. How could the coffee fade and turn old this fast??
. The mouthfeel has a mild creaminess from the sugar. The lingering old coffee is just very off putting. Drinkable but barely. Overall this was a beer I was looking forward to. The is a major disappointment.

Draft. Clear amber color, medium white head. Aroma of slightly burnt coffee. Taste has earthy, bready coffee and light spice in an odd combo. Coffee lovers might enjoy this, but it doesn’t quite come together.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 6/6/15
Aroma: Aroma of coffee mostly, some chocolate and caramel, and a little dark fruit
Appearance: It pours a mahogany brown color with a creamy beige head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is strongly coffee as well, mildly sweet, with an average bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, slightly over-carbonated, with a dry close
Overall Impression: Interesting for sure. I thought the coffee flavor worked nicely here. Definitely something I'm glad to have tried. Improves as it warms.

750 c&c from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent dark copper with a creamy beige head. Aroma is nice coffee. Med + body - thanks in part to fizzy carbonation. Flavor is a darkish treacle with coffee and chocolate notes. It may have a little darker fruit (fig?), and it seems to be rather dry. Coffee isn’t really strong - it sort of combines with the fruit. Really reminds me of the things Unibroue makes for Trader Joe. This is a nice beer, and if you drink it slowly the coffee has time to develop.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 3/19/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color, with a 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of roasted coffee, cocoa, caramel, toast, light vanilla/cream, light nuttiness, pear, apple, light banana, pepper, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of cocoa/coffee, dark/bready malt, and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with good strength. Taste of roasted coffee, cocoa, caramel, toast, light vanilla/cream, light nuttiness, pear, apple, light banana, pepper, clove, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of yeast spiciness and light roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, cocoa, caramel, toast, light nuttiness, light vanilla/cream, pear, apple, pepper, clove, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexityand robustness of cocoa/coffee. dark/bready malt, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightlt creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian coffee ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of coffee/cocoa, dark/bready malt, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

On tap at Happy Gnome. Pours a clear amber with a tan head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has coffee with some Belgian yeast and sweet grains underlying. Flavor has interesting combination of Belgian yeast, coffee, light fruit and sweet grains. Muddled.

Not bad. Strange but kind of works. The coffee is a little overpowering here buy not completely dominant. Light florals. Some sweetness and bitterness in finish. Tap at Scion Dupont.
