Tasting at Matt’s, tagged May 2015
Dark amber to brown color. Some malt and caramel flavor, body is thinner than expected, sweetness is very mild, it has some acidity that although is not bad it seems unwanted, and a fair alcohol presence.
Not a bad beer, but somehow a boozy chaotic one.

Bottle. Reddish-amber, and phenolic, with a fairly thin body. Apple and cherryish, with a thin malt character. Comes across fairly bland.

Bottle - Woody, cherry and tart malts. Deep cloudy brown with a beige head. Tart malts light cherry and Woody notes. Light tartness but a bit vegetal. Odd.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out notes of cherries, dark fruits, brandy notes and light sourness. Flavour is strange, with notes of cherry cough syrup, some brandy, and bready notes. Too much cherry cough syrup in this. Not into this at all, but it's not offensive.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark ruddy copper with a slight, transient beige/tan head. Aroma of cherry, brandy, oak. Maybe even vanilla. Med + body. Flavor is seemingly oxidized - old barrels? - there’s cherry and oak. Mildly tart. Brandy dances in the background. Nice. I’d recommend more cherries and fresher, soaked barrels.

22oz bottle pours a hazy caramel amber with some cloudy, white head. Nose has cherry and cooked greens, lactic acid, mild neutral wood, a bit butter, some sweet notes too. Flavor is sweet, butterscotch, some grape, some raisin, cherry, wood. Creamy finish.

Pours deep mahogany into a thistle. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Caramel, brandy, oak and cherry aromas. Sweet caramel upfront turning to a dark cherry burn before the lasting, dry vanilla oak finish. Nice...

22oz bottle at the DC Expanded Sour Tasting. Light cherry notes, bitter malt notes, some cherry cordial finish (different than the cherry notes). Flavor is about the same, a touch dusty character on the finish.
