Nothing is more evocative of summer than the beautiful aroma of flowers, and the favored flowers of brewers are hops. Our brand new summer ale, Fleur de Houblon (Hop Flowers), is brewed to bring the many elements of summer into a refreshing and easy-to-drink Belgian-style ale.
Fleur de Houblon is a rich gold color with distinct floral hops in the aroma that follow through in the taste. Whole-cone Bravo hops are used to impart their earthy, fruity, and floral aromas and flavors. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with pleasing complexity and spicy notes from both primary and secondary fermentation with our unique Ommegang house yeast.

Bottle pour. This is a really nice balance of sweet and spice. Heavy on the floral hops. Some lemon and honey flavor. Light fruit flavor finish. Very well done summer ale. Refreshing on a great day. Loved it.

On tap @ Rattle N Hum. A really big foamed one, and the beer itself is really cloudy, golden yellow in color. It smells of blind Belgian yeast, some green apples, a little spicy touch, some alcohol, apple zest and a little bit of silo fart. Smells nice. Tastes like a proper Belgian. Some yeasty tones and a half sharp alcohol sting. It has a just below average carbonation level and a light oily mouthfeel. The green apple zest sticks in the taste as well, and it's what I would call as light mouthdrying. Somewhat watery finish. 13.06.2013

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours translucent gold with a 3 finger foamy white head. Aroma is fruity esters with a hint of a tripel ale. Maybe it’s all the same. As the foam recedes it smells much like a very floral tripel. Med body or better. Flavor is surprisingly light - not much like a tripel now - there’s fruit ester, and some very earthy floral hop. Even getting a little bubble gum. Complex for a "light" ale. Finishes dry and earthy.

On tap at Hay Merchant. Pours a cloudy yellow with large frothy white head that lasts awhile leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is yeast, sugary malt, and banana. Thin mouthfeel with sweet fruit, honey and light yeast. Hides alcohol well, very good.

at a tasting, thank zvikar, long lasting big bubbley head, very hazy pale yellow colour, aroma of orange blossom and rose petals, quite perfumey, some vanila in the back, touch of cinamon, flavour of stone fruit, soap and flowers. Nice and Quite fun.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks zvikar. Hazy yellow with a big frothy white head. Floral aroma, spicy, yeasty and kinda soapy. Spicy and yeasty flavor, a bit soapy, with a bitter note. Medium-bodied, lively carbonation. I’ve had better from Ommegang.

Cityfresh Associated Supermarket, Bushwick growler ($10): Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, flowers, frutiness, and a bit of spice. Taste is sweet, but sufficiently hoppy. Aftertaste of yeast and hops linger on into the aftertaste. This is a really well done Belgian ale.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is very floral, living up to its name; it’s also peppery, Belgian yeast phenols--clove is prominent, dusty basement. Pours hazy gold with a giant white soapy head; leaves some lace. Taste is sweet, savory and earthy before turning lightly bitter; also some candy sweetness lingers in the finish. A little thin, carbonation a little too low for my liking. Even with the palate flaws, this is a fine beer.
