From May 2007
.
Purchased at Poplar Wine and Spirits in Casper.

This pours from 12oz bottle(best by 04-06-07) a clear amber with a good head of foam that shrinks fairly slowly to a fin layer and it has some good lacing.

The smell has a nice hoppy nose with notes of caramel and biscuit.

The taste has big notes of floral hops up front with biscuit and caramel malt following in the background. That's a pretty bitter start to this session but it all balances out nicely with the ample malt presence.

Further sips in and I'm getting some grapefruit mixed in with the floral hops and it kind of makes my mouth pucker a little but the malt *never* lets the hops get out of hand and *that's* working for me because it makes me want to take more sips and that's always a good thing. ;^)

The finish is very dry and the mouthfeel, for me, is spot on for the style. This is a very good ESB and I'm glad that it's back in town after being absent for many years. I'm just hoping that I can get some fresher samples so I can compare and perhaps update this review.

Decent bitter from Deschutes, amber in color with small airy head. Heavy malt profile in aroma and taste, some mild, dry bitterness on the finish.
