The Bract Programme is an exciting initiative by NZ Hops designed to identify the very best hops of the future through their Trial Hop Breeding Programme. We’re incredibly fortunate to have been invited (alongside a select group of exceptional breweries around the world) to take part in this year’s project.

Keg at Anchor Tap, Croxley, Herts. A hazy golden/orange coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, orange, pine, sweet berry, tropical fruit taste/aroma. Surprised at the sweetness in this pale ale from Two Flints. It's very pleasant.

440ml can. Murky golden with a white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, vinous, earthy. Taste is juicy, tropical, stone fruits, earthy pine, some grape and gooseberry, light dank, light bitterness. Medium bodied.
Nice hop, though I doubt I could tell any difference between this and normal Riwaka as it still has the telltale savoury/smokey/earthy top notes.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 24/01/2026.
Hazed orange golden topped with a just off white head.
Nose is stone fruit, guava, pine resin, dank chimes, lychee.
Taste comprises pissy green berries, stone fruit, hop spice, pine resin, dank bite, guava.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spliced with resinous NZ fuelled hop bitterness.
Big pissy Kiwi hopped bastard ... solid.

Can. A light haze on this yellowish gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light palate, a good fine minerally crispness. Light smooth pale malts, a pleasant light creamy sweetness. Can't recall a solo NZH106 brew before, so a doff of the hat to Azvex. Well, there is Mosaic here but, I can hardly taste it. Good cooling pine leads to a complex array of hop fruits. Light passion fruit, certainly as much, if not more, than 95% of the Strata hopped beers I have had. Very soft skunk, well buried. The rest is a complex array of hop fruits, soft stone fruits, a touch of gooseberry, a little white strawberry. Mild tropical fruits. Ubiquitous cooling pine overlay with a mild hop spice nip. Crisp finish. Rather nice. This hop tastes like Strata with bells on. That inevitably leads to the question, what will be the point of Strata going forward? Nice beer. Layered hop goodness.

On tap at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Nose is grapefruit, lime, popcorn. Similar approach in the taste. Nice flavour combo, works very well. Long citrus fruit linger. Nice.
