Named for the rural Fauquier village where hundreds of ducks return each year to make their summer homes, our Sumerduck Saison brings a flavor of Spring with fruity Belgian esters, a subtle tartness, and delicate earthy notes. A touch of rye adds a peppery spice, and wheat malt a silky mouth feel to this easy drinking Farmhouse Ale.

Draught from whole foods old town. Not too bad. Fits the part. I forget anything noteworthy.

Hazy copper and bronze coloured body with a nice, two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of bright hay and grasses with a ton of coriander seed and curacao with a big dose of citrus, sweetness and more grasses. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and coriander seed flavours at first with a lot of yeast, a touch of breads and a nice curacao and some full oranges. Aftertaste shows some nice grassy notes with a good deal of hay and even more yeast and bready flavours throughout that finishes quite sweet from the oranges/curacao. Overall, a nice saison with some dry flavours, but more of a german wheat or belgian wit flavour throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Shopper’s Food Warehouse in Alexandria, Virginia on 21-June-2017 for US$1,25 sampled at home in Washington on 17-August-2017.

Keg at the brewery, 6/10/15. Clear golden, medium sized creamy off-white head, decent retention. Aroma of doughy malt, bread, mild yeast, bubblegum. The taste is stone fruit, cherries, spice, yeast, pale malt, nuts. Thin bodied, well balanced, refreshing.

Draft at the brewery. Poured a slightly murky golden color with a small off-white head. Aroma was light, sweet malts, grain, with some very mild funky yeast notes. Flavor was about the same, straw notes, some funky yeast notes. A bit weak, which is unfortunate. It reminds me too much of a homebrewed saison I’ve made. Not bad at all, but missing something (more funk needed I think).
