Our decadent Oatmeal Stout lovingly aged in Bourbon barrels. Beautiful chocolate, espresso and vanilla-bourbon aromas hold your nose hostage. Rich dark chocolate truffle, bourbon and espresso create a dangerously smooth and incredibly drinkable barrel aged Oatmeal Stout. Hoarding tendencies may occur.

Bottle from a friend's cellar. Black pour with a brown, foamy head, surprisingly stiff for an older strong beer. Smell has slight bourbon at first sniff, some fruit leather, and a bit of semi-sweet chocolate. Taste is kind of a cola thingie, since it's still very fizzy. Slight lactic curl on my tongue, then more light chocolate.

Draught @ Dive96, Manhattan NYC. Inky black with a small foamy tan head, sweetish mocha aroma, low carbonation, mildly sweet lightly woodsy mocha taste, alcohol undertones, smooth body, long smooth sweetish mocha finish. Very smooth and tasteful.

Wineglass showing dark brown with sparse latte colored foam.

The nose shows moderately intense notes of adzuki beans and hints of dark chocolate.

The palate is well carbonated and thin bodied. Light adzuki forwardness with a mild bitterness.

Shared at the October 2024 PS tasting, 10/12/24. Black, medium brown head, average retention. Aroma of mild chocolate, mild coffee. Taste is roast, milk chocolate, oats. Not much barrel character.

This is my 7,400th RateBeer rating and 150th Imperial Stout rating! So I wanted it to be a special beer. I’ve been storing this in my beer cellar since 2017, so I’m hoping that the seven years of aging have produced a worthy sampling of this iconic brew. 12 ounce bottle. It is labeled as an Oatmeal Stout with a ABV of 8.5% and 17 IBU’s. Pours an opaque dark brown with a creamy tan cap. Aroma lean toward dark roasted malt and bourbon. Flavor is sweet roasted malt with a slight tanginess. Notes of dark chocolate, oak, bourbon, coconut, vanilla and dark dried fruit. Soft and smooth palate, no doubt from the long aging. Overall, a great beer choice from my special milestone.

Lovely in their style, clearly their american yeast and house taste. Not oatmeal just a nice stout. BeerTemple ams
