Nice deep dark brown coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall creamy tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted nuts, earth, caramel and a bit of cardboard. Medium-bodied; Deep roasty flavour with a ton of caramel, a lot of vanilla, some oak, a hint of bourbon and a nice rich coffee flavour. Aftertaste shows a good complexity with cream, nuts, medicinal flavours and a hint of pit fruits. Overall, a nice and full flavoured beer with some good and unexpected flavours. Not an out-of-this-world beer, but good for sure. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 04-January-2013 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 05-March-2013.

Sample at Mellow Mushroom in Johnson City. Brownish-black pour with a medium beige head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, malt and hops. Medium body with flavors of toasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Hops in the background as well. The finish is roasty with a black coffee aftertaste. Above average overall.

12 oz. bottle, sent from TURDFERGUSON (thanks Sam), pours a deep dark amber / near-black with a small tan head. Nose is all coffee, with freshly brewed french press coffee, and not a whole lot else. Flavour brings out deep, dark roasted coffee beans, no roast or chocolate character in there, just the coffee. Light-to-medium bodied, as one would expect from a porter. A monolithic coffee bomb here, executed very well. Good for what it is.

on tap-tight tan-black. A-coffee grounds/roasty-dk malt with some bite. T-coffee/roasty-dk malt, 2nd earthy hops. Not my taste.

Pours dark brown/black color with tan head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate with roasted malts. Roasted malt flavor with a moderate amount of coffee and some chocolate. Somewhat ashy. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Bomber from Whole Foods Market North Raleigh, NC. Hey Highland, if you’re listening, please send more of your seasonals to Virginia! This one pours a very dark brown color with a large frothy tan head. Average head retention. Aroma of big coffee notes, some ash, roasted malts and caramel. The taste is strong roasty coffee notes, roasted malts, faint sweet malts and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. A little over-bearing on the coffee but still solid.

Bottle shared at RBWG 2012. Pours a dark brown with a small off white head. The aroma is a strong roast and coffee. Medium mouthfeel with a roadsted coffed with a nice spicey finish. A very good porter from Highland.
