Keg at Cigar City Brewpub, 19/02/15. Chestnut brown with reddish hues topped with a decent beige covering. Nose is sweet, red grapegruit, candied fruit rinds, sugar. Taste comprises light spice, dates, earthy notes, sticky toffee, sweet’n’sour vibes. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a lick of booze. Ok barley wine but lacks a little depth.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a dark mahogany body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up sweet malts, some molasses, a bit of spicy black licorice, some date like fruitiness. The taste is sweet with malts, molasses, some spicy black licorice and brown sugar coated prunes and dates. This is workin’ real nice. Love me some barleywine. Great sipper.
