Dark and earthy, this robust porter exhibits rich mocha-like complexity. "Deep Six" is a water depth of 6 fathoms measured using a sounding line. Let’s hope the quaffable, dry finish keeps all hands on deck.

Love the smokey taste to it. Brings me back for more. HK has scored for England, aka, the White Pelé.

Draught @ NYC Craft Beer Festival. Dark brown color with small foamy beige head, little caramel aroma, medium carbonation, caramel taste laced with alcohol, long finish ending with a roasted flavor. Very nice porter!

On tap at Daikaya pours an oily black with some cloudy beige head that faded fast. Nose has a big soy note. Actually, wtf, is this a version brewed for Daikaya? Umami, soy, roasted onion, malt, tamarind. Flavor follows with herbs, rosemary, mushroom, soy, malt. Herbal finish.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a huge fluffy tan-brown head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was dryish, roasty, anise, coffee, chocolate and floral hops. The flavor was bitter, dryish, mlaty, a touch roasty and had notes of vanilla, anise and floral hops. Medium length finish. Meidum body. Meh.

Bottle: Black and thick....with a frothy, light brown head. Heavy dark chocolate-coffee aroma. Taste is chocolate malt, cream, roasted sweet coffee... Thick, rich, chewy... Really, really good.

12 oz. bottle. Pours black, with a small, persistent, brown head. Nose of burnt toast, bitter chocolate, pine, and earth. Roasty sweet, with a light hop bitterness. Medium to heavy body, syrupy, and a little grainy and astringent. This is a nice, robust, and roasty porter. Not outstanding, but solid.

Medium roast coffee, roasted malt nose. Black, medium beige head. Charred goat, savory, coffee and soil. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Although porters have become a diverse style, this is what I think of when I think of a porter, roasty not fruity, relatively light body, drinkable.

12 ounce bottle from Wegman’s Lake Manassas. Pours a dark brown with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruits, mild coffee and clay. The taste is bitter roasted malt, nutty notes, dark fruits, bitter hops, black coffee. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.
