In 2013, two nine-gallon casks were filled with Buffalo Sweat and a handful of vanilla beans, and were stored in Tallgrass founder Jeff Gill’s office. A few weeks later, Jeff entered his office to find one of casks had exploded, spraying beer all over his office and leaving a hole in the ceiling above his desk shaped exactly like the cork bung used to seal the cask. Thankfully, the other cask did not explode. That night at an event in Wichita, Kansas, the beer was so well-received, it immediately got the call to become the brewery’s winter seasonal.

Can thanks to Russell. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is cocoa, cracker, licorice, metal. Slick body, licorice, cocoa, light vanilla, metallic finish, not much going on with this one.

Sampled from a can this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was strong vanilla, smoke, roasty malts, dry and dusty. The flavor was roasty and smokey with vanilla, dust, chocolate and a hint of marshmallow. Long finish. Medium bodied and smooth.

Can, was looking forward to trying this but now I see its vanilla bean, low expectations. Very dark brown liquid with tan choco lookin head. Smell is muted dull roasty dark beer nose. Whew, big dark beer flavor with some volatile near cloying effects. Some co2, sweetness makes it a little difficult in the middle. Seems a little more like 6% alky. On the finish i'm wanting for the original version. Gave the plain b'sweat a 3.5, much better, JMHO.

Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can poured into a glass. Black with small small light brown head. Aroma is vanilla, medium body, medium carbonation, and a little lacing. Taste is vanilla, chocolate, and lactose. Sweet, but nice Stout.

Can, thanks to Unclemike. Pours dark brown with large creamy beige head, dark chocolate aroma, medium carbonation, mildly bitter dark chocolate taste with a bit of coffee, smooth body, long mocha finish. Nice stout.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Big vanilla bean aromas, milk chocolate, light coffee. More vanilla cream, and coffee on the palate, some dark cacao. Sweet but not overly so. Very surprised by this one.

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 5/12/2017. Pours clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, creamed coffee, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted brown bread, light nuttiness/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a delicious milk stout! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and vanilla/lactose flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, almost refreshing. Very flavorful with an awesome mouthfeel for the low ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Pint can (thanks Greg Wilson) on 26th May 2016. Poured (twice) into a lovely Kasteel stemmed glass while sat in the Californian sun. Black bodied with a deep and full head of tan coloured foam on each pour, sadly the head refused to hang around each time and the beer looked like flat cola. Luckily the aroma and taste made up for the looks, Vanilla first, Coffee second and Chocolate third in both the aroma and flavor stakes. Semi-sweet and smooth, not as rich body wise as I thought it might be, but a very pleasant beer none the less.

Can. Deep brown body with a frothy tan head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, cookie dough. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, moderate carbonation. Lots of vanilla in the taste along with notes of sweet cocoa powder, light char, chocolate. Slick oatmeal feel.
