For 2014's Classic Vintage Ale we have kept to similar core ingredients as previous years, with even more speciality malts to bring further character to the full, rounded malt flavour that we expect from this ale.
Drink it fresh to pick up the hop character, or store it cool to develop a host of complex ageing flavours.
As with all of our Vintage collection we have included some oak character, this year from a proportion of bourbon barrel aged wheat wine blended into the finished beer.

Bottle, 2014 Vintage. Cloudy dark amber-red with a thin head. Has a notable strength behind a rich sweetened fruitiness, evident in both aroma and taste.

2014 bottle (blended with "a portion of bourbon barrel aged wheat wine", according to the label). Deep clear copper with a coat of beige head. Aroma of singed toffee, sherry, whisky, mace, vanilla. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Fruit and toffee, dries out at the end where there is still strong bitterness and a little overt alcohol. Some oak and vanilla, a little chocolate. Dry and bitter enough that if the malt’s sagging much at all I can’t tell. A few months past best before - happy to try a fresh one, happy to go another year or two older. A beer for cheese and crackers.
