Celestial Origin has always been our guiding star for barrel-aged barleywine, and this expression takes the journey even further. Resting 22 months in 4 Year Willett Rye whiskey barrels, the base beer’s dense layers of dark fruit, toffee, and caramelized sugar were given new dimension. The rye barrels contribute a lively spice and peppery lift, which cuts through the richness and complements the barleywine’s natural depth. The result is a striking balance of warmth, oak, and spirit—an enduring artifact from the outer edges of our barrel library.

Our Tasting Notes: Cranberry coffee cake, dark toffee, fuggy pudding

Bottle share at CBJ. Thanks to the team for the bottle. Near clear amber brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Light palate, semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Airy malts, a good caramel and toffee richness. Some alcohol spice. Rich bourbon soaked ripe fruits. Light and semi dry finish. Spicy alcohol linger. No surprises but a tasty barleywine.

CBJ Tasting. Glossy cola brown. No head. Aroma has molasses and dark fruit and booze. Flavourwise we have sour berries over chewy malts. Medium bodied. Oily. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry astringent.

Bottle, group split, at the CBJ tasting 29/01/2026.
Extremely dark mahogany brown topped with a khaki cap that veers to the edge.
Nose is chocolate, dark malts, bourbon nip, spice.
Taste comprises mellow roast, chocolate shavings, bourbon bite, spice, fruit cake.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Solid BA kit but came over more like an impy stout than a BW.
