AROMA: Mildly sweet, with scents of coffee and a hint of caramel, at the end. Oddly, I find the coffee scent to be more like used coffee grinds, rather than fresh beans.
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a 3-finger, tight-frothed, dirty-tan head that dissipates very slowly with excellent lacing. It looks very nice!
TASTE: At beginning of a sip, I get moderate sweetness with a fair amount of espresso that is followed by some light notes of cream and a touch of caramel. Sadly, other than a bit of coffee flavor, it doesn't really have much else to offer. And I find that the sweetness doesn't really mesh with the rest of the flavor profile.
MOUTHFEEL: Thin-bodied with a slightly coarse texture. Carbonation is below average. Finish is mildly dry.
OVERALL: Appearance is great. Aroma and Flavor are just okay. Mouthfeel is lacking. While I find the idea of the beer to be compelling, the actual execution leaves me flat. I'm glad I tried it, but I won't be buying again.

Refrigerated 12 oz can poured into a glass mug. Dark brown with medium beige head. Aroma is espresso, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste espresso and Pilsner malt.

Black with a large foamy tan head that left decent lacing. Coffee beans, toasty malts caramel, wood and cola. Long finish. Medium body.

LoL, DFH has really lost it; they say in the description above that this is the first of their 2026 ales, WTF? The can says dark lager idiots! It seems this brewer has lost lots of credibility since it was sold back in 2019. I remember when caladione had a shit fit when ratebeer was sold to AB. Whatever hypocrite. Anywho, this can of cheap lager beer pours really dark brown and you can see shades of dark red glowing thru it. Looks just like a good rootbeer or cola. Nose is very mild for a coffee beer, I think it has a tad of coffee sweetness on the olfactory, but you really have to search for it. First taste is mainly coffee and the dark lager is kind of difficult to taste. I like dark lagers but this one is a little annoying to me. Well, considering the coffee is not in yer face, I think I may be getting used to it in the middle. Next big slug right from the can says its got some decent carbonation in there. Maybe getting some of that dark lager in there now as I approach the finish. Not bad overall for a coffee flavored beer.

6 week old can
A: Clear dark mahogany with a tall, long lasting tan head and thick lace.
S: Mild coffee with autumn leaves, caramel and light herbs.
T: Much more pronounced coffee. Rich and bitter with little caramel sweetness. A bit dry at the end.
M: Medium light with ample soft carbonation and a smooth oatsy mouthfeel.
O: Simple but good flavor and nice texture. Nice.
