Cask at Wheatsheaf, Stoke. Pours a golden brown (with a reddish tinge) with a small foamy off-white head and excellent lacing. Not much of an aroma – just hints of mango and citrus. In the mouth it is quite bitter with some sharp traces too, and a slightly watery texture. There’s floral hops, grapefruit and citrus in the flavour. Finish is dry and somewhat sticky. This is reasonable but a bit too much citrus for my liking.

Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2026, Beer#4. Darker clear golden-amber red ale. Bittered red ale character although sweetish in nose with berry-fruit providing this. Hoppy and easy enough.

Cask at Archibald Simpsons, Aberdeen. It pours clear amber with a thick, fluffy off-white head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, red fruits, twists of citrus, pic n mix, touch of wood and resin. The taste has some decent bitterness initially, pithy, zesty, grapefruit, waxy peel, slightly soapy, tannin, resin and some damp greenness. Finish is bitter and drying. Average body and moderate, fluffy cask carbonation. Enjoyed this more than expected. Nice condition lifts it for sure.

5/3/2026. Cask at wetherspoon’s beer festival. At the Bell Hotel, Norwich. This was served straight from cask. Pours fine. Malty, fruity, caramel. A bit stewy. Medium sweet, moderately bitter. Not the festival highlight. 5.9. Also 8/3/2026. At Cricketers, Ipswich. Accidental double up. Though this was quite a bit better than the one served in Norwich. Had some bready sweet notes. Not stewy. Upped to a 6.3.
