Pours a dark, cola-brown, with minimal head. Aroma has chocolate, coffee, some vanilla. Flavor has hints of chocolate, coffee, licorice, some leather, vanilla, and a touch of milk. Smooth and lightly sweet. Not bad.

Pour is a black with almost no head at all. Aroma is a real nice bitter roasted coffee with some dark chocolate notes. Flavor is more sweet chocolate malt with a little coffee on the aftertaste. Not overly sweet but there is plenty of chocolate flavor. I just wish the coffee made more of an appearance. Still this was pretty flavorful and probably one of the better Elysian beers I’ve had.

Bottle. A- Coffee, chocolate, mild candle wax, slightly sweet, slightly earthy. A- Black color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Coffee, chocolate, roasty, sweet. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- For a sweet stout, it is sweet but keeps it manageable and not hedonistic sweet. Loads of earthy coffee and also lots of roasty chocolate throughout. Really, quite tasty.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/14/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, brown sugar, toasted oats, brown bread, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and coffee notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, brown sugar, toasted oats, brown bread, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, cream, brown sugar, toasted oats, brown bread, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and coffee flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly drying from hop/roast bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a great coffee milk stout! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and coffee flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Really rich with a great mouthfeel for the modest ABV; with well rounded milk stout complexity all around. A really enjoyable offering.

Bottle: (6.0% label) Pours black with a very thin tan head. Lightly nutty, chocolate milk scent. Taste is lactic, coffee, chocolate malt. Milky, mineral bitter. A bit of roast.....feels a bit thin...... Good, but really expected more out of this one.

Bottle from Mitsuya. Deep brown with a mocha colored head. Strong espresso notes with some milk chocolate, milk and a hint of dark fruit. Taste can’t live up to the nose, so a bit of a disappointment there. Body is a little thin, but good coffee flavor is there with some roasted malt. Not bad. --- Beer merged from original tick of Split Shot on 30 Aug 2015 at 18:40 - Score: 6
