With its quirky name, Sativum Prior celebrates and reimagines the traditional Belgian beers that every good brewer grew up with.
Delicately infused chicory, a local root, offers an elegant roasted and slightly bitter touch, subtly extending the tasting experience.

On tap at Kerelshof Cassel. Hazy amber brown colour. Lasting beige head. Some esters on the aroma and flavour. Some malts. Its not a full on dubbel. Some hops on the finish. Likeable bit almost a brown beer than a dubbel. I liked it. Some light chocolate flavour

330ml bottle from Thiriez. Pours a paler brown than expected, pale tan head. Admirable dubbel, nicely balanced of course, pleasantly sweet, some cakey toffee, noticeable chicory... if we're splitting hairs more dark candy rock flavours would be welcome but it's still a lovely beer and a nice take on the style.
