Nice crisp and fairly clear deep amber and light brown coloured body with a thinnish pure white head, only a centimetre or so tall. Aroma of liquid smoke, fake sugars, a dose of caramelised sugars and a hint of peat, but the fake smoke notes are evident throughout. Light-bodied; Sharp liquid smoke flavours dominate with some softer malts, a dose of caramel and toffee sweetness and ending with a dash of light bitterness from the underwhelming hops and the softer malts. Aftertaste shows again way too much of the fake smoke flavours and more astringent notes from the alcohol, nuts, mushrooms and peat than anything else and gives this the wrong profile - one that should be focused on the caramel and malts and instead is centred on the wrong, more 'controversial' notes of the smoke addition flavour and the off-putting mushroomy and earthy bite at the end. Overall, immediately given away that this is a fake smoked beer with how horrible the smell is, but as typical with InBev - a quicker and cheaper way to make this for the mass-market. Sad. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Row), Virginia on 03-November-2019 for US$1,87 sampled at home in Washington on 07-November-2019.

On tap at the brewery 10/3/15. Smoky malts, grasses, and wheat. Smokey, but not bacon smokey as it claims.

Draft at Snallygaster 2014. Handed to me, with some hesitation, I took my first sip. This poured a yellow color with a medium sized slightly off-white head. I wanted to avoid this beer, it’s a smoked beer. Not my favorite style. However, this particular brew was a nice light lagered beer, with some very mild smoke notes that didn’t overpower it nearly as much as I expected. Like a light bbq or mild beef jerky. Decent.

Like most smokey lagers, it’s not super drinkable, but still ok. Pours amber without much head or lacing. Charcoal meat kind of taste, some caramel. Tap at Snallygaster.

Served on draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy red-amber color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of smoke, caramel malts and a fruity finish. The taste is assertive smoke, stone fruits, caramel and a bitter finish. Medium bodied.
