The result of a collaboration brew done late in the fall of 2012 with Evil Twin Brewing (Denmark & Brooklyn). This stout was soured in barrels by an army of wee beasties over a period of 6 months. The resulting beer pairs natural acidic and tart fruit flavors with roasted malts. Mighty tasty.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color ale with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of tart notes with some dry roasted notes that are also perceptible. Taste is a mix between some tart notes with some dry roasted malt notes with light funky and acidic undertones. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Interesting mix but I am not personally a big fan of those soured stout.

Bottle - Dark roast malts, oak and some sour berry. Jet black with thin brown head. First sour stout I have ever liked. Dark roast, berry, barrel and sourness. Brilliant.

500mL bottle, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out acidic fruit, roasted malt, and oak - very complex and nice mix of sour and stout qualities. Flavour brings out loads of oak barrels, moderate tartness, slight acidic fruit qualities and a little residual roast from the malt. This combines sour and stout extremely well. Quite complex, with the oak and tartness front and centre. Nothing is overbearing, but it all meshes well. Great stuff.

Purchased at Bellwoods in Toronto, ON; enjoyed at a friends place while waiting for a notoriously late friend. Appearance is a dark toffee brown with a rich and frothy tan head that nicely laces to the glass. Aroma of sour cherries, smells dry, decent. Taste is pretty good, moderate sourness, interesting flavor, kind of like a sour cherry stout. Great brewery!

(500mL bottle from brewery) Pours a very dark brown/black, deep mahogany highlights with a dark tan head which leaves some spotty lace. Aroma has sour dark cherry and other pit-fruit, some wood character, and in the back roasted malts and coffee to emphasize its stout-ness. Palate starts somewhat acidic and sour and fruity, and then some woody, wine-barrel type sensations and a bit of booze show up, with a tart character, light spice and coffee roast leading to a finish that’s got a light roast bitterness, bit of booze and some lingering sourness on the roof of the mouth. Mouthfeel medium but oily, with some fairly strong effervescent carb at first, but which mercifully fades. Quite a nifty beer, nice blend of stout, sour and wine characters. Another hit from Bellwoods.

Awesome beer for a rainy day. Pours pitch black with good head and lace. Aroma of sour plum and cherry, roast malt and a hint of coffee. Nice smooth palate. some subtle barrel and wine hints as well. Finish is slightly sour, with a bitter stout note. Cool and original beer. Tap at Bellwoods.
