Lagunitas enlisted a mix of members from bands and music & beer sites to not only brew CouchTrippin’ Fusion Ale, but create a special variation of it for each show. Bands included Allen Stone, The Mowgli’s and Tumbleweed Wanderers. Plus beer minds from DC Beer, Beer Street Journal, Kim’s Bay Brews and Good Beer Hunting; and music-centric folks from FILTER Magazine, Brightest Young Things and Consequence of Sound. CouchTrippin’ Fusion Ale is dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Mosaic hops.

More amber than brown, with a nice sweet caramel-grain malt base and plenty of citric-berry-floral Mosaic goodness. Moderate bitterness and a piney fade. Tasty ballpark brew, but I’m guessing this cup isn’t really Couch Trippin’, what with it apparently having been retired two years ago. Either that or that beer takes stand a loooong time to kill a keg. Whatever. It’s a good beer, regardless which Fusion I’m drinking.

Lagunitas hitting a home run here. Not quite brown in color, but hitting all the marks for a nice malty beer. All the way around, a beautiful and tasty beer.

On tap at Harry’s. chocolate flavor is a surprise. Muted aroma. Tasty but a different twist from the other Fusions. Somewhat wine like with the Nelson.

Drought. Dark amber with reddish hue, creamy beige head, sharp hops aroma, sweetish hoppy taste, well balanced body, abrupt finish with slight hops and floral aftertaste. Very smooth and satisfying beer.

On tap @ Black Bottle. Fairly clear golden brown appearance with a white head. A bunch of dank, resin, and weed in the nose. Light to medium bodied. Slightly sweet. Not a huge malt presence. Really fucken dank flavor. Kind of thin. Fun. Could use a bit of tweaking.

On draught at Falling Rock. Clear dark brown pour with a medium thick bone white head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, hops and pine. Light-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, piney hops and fruit. The finish is malty up front with a resiny hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

Sampled at the 2014 Untapped festival in Fort Worth. Pours a clear amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a backbone of grain and cookie backbone with a bit of resin and pine coming over the top. Flavor has much more of a hop profile with resin, pine, grass and a hint of dankness as well as a grain and cookie backbone.
