Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout w/ Toasted Almonds, Cacao Nibs, Coffee, & Vanilla Beans.
It's been seven years since the original batch of Exorbitance, so we decided to resurrect it for our Advocators as a special edition barrel-aged variant. This beer rested in a combo of Willett Family Estate and Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for 24 months, before being blended and infused with freshly toasted almonds, some outstanding Jamaican cacao nibs, and Costa Rican coffee. To top that off we added double our standard amount of vanilla beans to the mix, including beans from Comoros, Alor Island, Uganda, and West Papua.
In the finished beer the rich almond character comes through first and foremost, supported but not overshadowed by the coffee and cacao, and playing nicely with the wave of vanilla that stretches. Though an adjunct-heavy beer, some warming spirit and barrel character carries through into the decadent finish.

Dark brown, rich cacao, syrupy, tons of vanilla. Super bitter, vanilla, dark chocolate, pecan sort of nuttiness. Excellent.

Sweet, chocolate, vanilla, American oak. Very intense, chocolate cookie like. Nice one.
