Bottle from Biernavigatie. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate, coffee, mocha, and mild vanilla with liquorice. Flavour is above medium sweet and mild bitter. Body is medium to full with low carbonation. Tasty stuff, though I did not expect caramel and liquorice to be prominent flavours, could have used a little more vanilla. Some tasty roast and coffee make this an enjoyable Imperial Stout.

Bottle. Black. Malt, roast, vanilla and a hint of coffee in the aroma. Malty sweet, soft roasty flavor with dominant vanilla, chocolate and a hint of coffee. Herbal bitterness in the finish. Full bodied. Low on carbon.

Bottle at home, from DeBierkonig, 22nd September 18. Pours black and viscous. Aroma is liquorice, mollases, black treacle, bitter chocolate, coffee beans. Taste is bitter, sweet chocolate, slight sour raw coffee bean, roasted malts, the vanilla is not prominent. Very complex and a good one to sip, great brew.

13/VIII/18 - 37.5cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte), shared with Erwin @ home - BB: V/2021 (2018-984)
Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots and lots of chocolate, some grains, coffee notes, slight hint of chlorine, thick intense smell. MF: soft carbon, full body, creamy texture. Taste: bit sourish, very roasted, some coffee, lots of cocoa powder, bitter, more roast, bit sugary, slightly bitter, some caramel, vanilla, some coffee, slightly sourish. Very nice one!!!

Batch 1727. Lots of coffee, not so much vanilla. Thick and stoutish, roasted, lightly bitter, coffee and the sourness that goes with it. Very solid coffee stout, but expected something a bit.. more?

Vanilla- and coffee-flavoured stout from this acclaimed young Dutch craft brewer, 37.5 cl bottle shared with Goedele at the Struise shop in Bruges. Very thick and moussy, yellowish beige head over a black beer with thin burgundy edges. Aroma of cigar ashes and lots of bitter 'fondant' chocolate, burnt toast, charcoal, roasted hazelnuts, leather, black cherries, pipe tobacco, old raisins, coffee but not much vanilla, some vague wet dog. Dried fruity onset, raisins, dried plum, some baked banana, sourish touch, light leathery umami, soft carbo, thick and full, oily mouthfeel. Bitter chocolatey, toasted nutty malt body, long and thick, roasted grain sourishness, lingering coffeeish roasted bitterness, peppery hops, some subtle vanilla retronasally but not as much as I was hoping for (I love it) and warming, whisky-like alcohol. Very well-crafterd, "old school style", very roasted RIS. Could have used more vanilla for me but highly enjoyed it nonetheless.

37.5cl bottle: BB May 2021. Shared on 30th Oct 2017 at the monthly beer exchange in Chez Sophie, cheers Mat for this offering. Black bodied, tanned topping. Coffee and chocolate aroma, taste and flavour. Slick, oily and rich, yet not overpoweringly so. Very drinkable if you like your Impy Stouts.
