This brettanomyces porter is made with dry fermented Ethiopian coffee from Mountain Air roasters. Although there is no fruit in this beer, there are amazing flavors of cherry and dark berries that meld seamlessly together with flavors of bourbon from the wood barrels.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8

Location: Draft at the Wicked Weed Funkatorium, 1/2/15

Aroma: Pretty much a straight forward coffee aroma, with roasted malts and chocolate
Appearance: It pours a brown color, with a small light brown head, and drippy lace
Flavor: The coffee mixes with the sourness in the flavor, which brings out some dark fruit
Palate: It has a soft carbonation, and lighter body than you'd probably expect from looking at it
Overall Impression: I wasn't sure how great this combination would work, but unsurprisingly considering how well they do sours, Wicked Weed got it to work very well.

Keg at the Funkatorium. Pours dark brown with a thin creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of rich coffee, chocolate, bourbon and a mild tart finish. The taste is chocolate, coffee, tart citrus, mild lactic notes and dark fruit. Medium bodied, mild lingering tartness.

A deep dark porter with a very thin brown head. In aroma, nice bitter chocolate with light cherry notes, coffee grind, resinous character, coffee extract, very nice. In mouth, a rather tart acidic porter with strange astringency, light cherries, lactic acid, unpleasant. Bottle at Wicked Weed.

Draft at Salud. Opaque black color, tan head. Aroma of roasty coffee grounds. Taste is softly sour coffee, in a combination that more or less works.

On tap in a flight at the brewpub. Pours black, with some light reddish hues, and a small, beige head. The aroma is coffee, raspberries, vanilla, and black bread. Fairly sweet flavor, with a subtle funk undertone. Medium body, lightly astringent, and finishes clean. Overall, this is a strange and delicious mixture of styles.
