Most beers this dark are so heavy-duty, you could eat them with a fork. Not Session Dark. You've heard of tall, dark and handsome? Well, this black lager is short, dark and drinkable. With notes of roasty chocolate, it's the perfect complement to original Session - a dark beer that doesn't drink like a meal. Session Dark was named #1 in the "Top Ten List of lagers Brewed in the United States" and has nabbed 15 golds over the years, to say nothing of other shiny metallic colors.

325ml bottle. Clear, mahogany colour with small, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Caramel malty and minimally nutty aroma, a touch of milk chococlate. Taste is slightly sweet caramel malty, minimally nutty, a touch of milk chococlate, minimally citrusy hoppy counterweight, a spicy touch of liquorice; oily texture, super soft palate.

Session signature short bottle, skipped the pour. Thanks to Eugene for the bottle/reminder that I never rated this back in my Session kick days. Creamy chocolate malt. Almost like a sweet cream, milk chocolate porter. Interesting, unique lager. Dark, but cool finish. Pretty good stuff.

At a tasting, thanks Tom L, small creamy head, quite clear darkish brown color, aroma of wood and caramel with a hint of cola, flavor of dark bread, caramel and cedary hopes,light to medium mellow bitterness. Really nice.

The appearance had a dark brown color, super nice looking one fingered off-white to white foamy head that lasts for a good minute before dieing at a moderate pace, good amount of lacing sticking to the sides.
The smell had a nice inviting fruity/sweet malty aroma invading my nose smooth and delicately inviting.
The taste had sweet chocolate covered fruit (but mainly banana), its almost as if it tastes like someone took a banana and stuck it in chocolate and then pulled those flavors and added it in this beer - I like it. The same chocolate banana aftertaste leading to the slightly same flavoring and shows a decent dryness in the finish.
On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body, well, it says its \"session\" on the bottle, but I’m not so sure about that, hmmm....carbonation is pretty smooth and good for the Schwarzbier style.
Overall, honestly, I like this one probably more for me, but its one of the heavier Schwarzbiers made by an American brewer, still worthy of having again, but I don’t consider this too much of a \"sessionable\" brew
