Wick for Brains is our classic and painstakingly produced Fall Pumpkin Ale. Instead of simply using spice, we use real pumpkin which lends a sweetness and pumpkin flavor not found in many Pumpkin Ales. Wonderful pumpkin pie spice intertwined in an Amber Ale creates a pumpkin sensation which is elegantly crafted. Notes of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Clove, Ginger and Allspice blend perfectly in this seasonal Ale. There are many Pumpkin Ales out there crafted by some wonderful breweries – we feel that ours stands among them and in some cases – stands apart.

Deep copper coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of canella, nutmeg, earth, caramel and quite a bit of peanuts. Medium-bodied; Strong nutty and spicey flavour at first that’s followed by a nice caramelised sugar flavour and some subdued fruits, all very noticeable with the squash as a malting agent. Aftertaste is complex and very nice for the style. Overall, a nice beer to sample and a good beer for the season! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from the Class VI at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska on 26-October-2015 for US$8,99/six pack, sampled on the train to New York on 03-December-2015.

Can. Pours orange with no head. Smells of pumpkin, light caramel, light spice. Taste is very similar. Not sweet, which is nice, but nothing outstanding either.

Location: Can from Sparrow- Downtown, 8/21/15

Aroma: The aroma is pumpkin spice, some lightly dry notes, bread, malt, and a but of pumpkin
Appearance: This one has a clear darker orange color with a smallish head and fairly heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor is a mix of pumpkin spice and pumpkin, malt, and a bit of earth
Palate: Medium bodied, with a fairly clean feel, soft carbonation, and a lightly dry close
Overall Impression: Far as I'm concerned, this is a solid one. It's way too early in the year for me to be drinking a pumpkin beer usually, but at the same time, at this point we have no choice. The good ones are gone by October.

Can. A- Dirty diapers, spices, malty, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon. A- Orange color, clear liquid, minimal head. T- Spices, pumpkin, cloves, coriander, cinnamon, malty, nutmeg, slightly sweet. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, spiced finish. O- The smell is a little funky but it gives you the idea of what you are about to imbibe. The taste is that of a pumpkin spice bread. Tons and tons of spices, primarily cinnamon and nutmeg. Also some pumpkin flavors, naturally. This was good overall, but wasn’t anything I would run for again.

Draft - Lots of pumpkin and some Christmas spice. Clear copper with no head. Pumpkin is king here with the spice in the background. Well balanced and for once not too spicy. Well done.

Sampled on draft at D’s in Monroeville this beer poured a bright orange-amber color with a medium sized foamy beige head that faded quickly. The aroma was strong nutmeg and clove and light cinnamon without much else going on. The flavor was sweetish sour caramel with bitter lemon, nutmeg and cinnamon. There was a bit of an off flavor I could not identify that did not work for me. The finish was dryish and spicy. Moderately full bodied. Eh.
