Double Haul IPA is our most popular taproom ale. And the folks at NABA agreed, awarding it a gold medal at the 2008 brewfest. Brewed with lots of hops and packing a 6.5% alcohol punch, Double Haul IPA is a beer lover’s dream. After a couple of Double Hauls you’ll feel like you’re out with your buddies and it’s FISH ON! for both of you. Cascade bittering hops, Cascade flavoring hops, and Cascade finishing hops-a veritable cascade of hoppiness! Brewed with love and now available in 16 oz aluminum cans.

From can to glass. Pours a faintly hazed copper with slight tan head that is full and lingers with big bubbles. Aroma of overt malt notes. Slight grapefruit. Taste is mix of earth and faint fruit. Moderate astringency on the finish leads to a grainy palate on the back half.

Clear copper and bronze coloured body with a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of grassy and very herbal hops with some very low alpha acids and almost more citrus and honey scents along with malt notes than anything hoppy or pungent. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grainy and malty notes dominate up front with a big caramelised sugar, toffee and earthy grain notes with a dry floral kick from hops which do come through a few seconds later, but some light grapefruit and very floral notes on the finish. Aftertaste shows the grassy and grainy qualities, but not much else - fairly bitter from the malts versus the hops, but with some nice floral notes as well and some smooth sugars. Overall, not a bad IPA - this is akin to an East Coast IPA with its large malt character, but still showing some soft bitterness on the edges. I sampled this sixteen ounce, full pint-sized can, purchased from Albertson's [grocery store] in Livingston, Montana on 29-July-2020 for US$2,49 sampled in my hotel room here in West Yellowstone, Montana on 01-July-2020.

Tasting at Erik's, can; 6.5% ABV
Hazy dull golden colour. Just an old style IPA, a bit husky, no bright hops, mildly sweet, with some herbaceous bitterness in the finish. Not so good.

16 oz. can, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy armpits, dulled hops, and bready malt. Flavour is very flat, with earthy hops, some dulled citrus, and bready malt. The hops are dull and there isn't much to this. Not good.

473ml can. (6.5% ABV) Pours a hazy medium orange with a medium, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves curtains of lace. Mild, sweet aroma of caramel malt, bread, orange peel, apricot and light grapefruit. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, biscuit, peach, apricot, orange peel, grapefruit and pine with a bit of alcohol in a dry, bitter hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Not bad.
