500mL bottled Jan 14, 2026, drunk Jul 30, 2026.
Peppery (black pepper, not green bell pepper - no oxidized coffee) and fruity with no heavy/dark roast. Earthy chocolate and earthy coffee with more vibrant fruit. The earthy/fruity juxtaposition is very interesting. No alcohol noted.
Starts out with more of the peppery-to-fruity coffee with a luscious, rich, malty texture yet not getting too sweet. Choco-caramel with huge prune, cigar and light roast coffee. Light char finish alongside dark chocolate and earthy dryness. Pepper lingering. No alcohol, not dark roasted/over-roasted. Very nicely balanced yet still managing plenty of richness.
A huge surprise at how good this is for a non-BA stout, with the coffee done really tastefully and even better considering the price ($10 for a 500mL)!

Bottled 500ml. -from the brewery shop, shared with Hrabren & Marko. Year 2006, no ABV stated on the label. Pitch black coloured, medium sized beige head, weak coffee nose. Roasted malt, not much of coffee, light peppery and notes of alcohol with roasty finish. Big disappointment first of all from Hill Farmstead and especially considering the price (25 or 26 $).

Bottle, huge thanks for hauling it from the brewery. Blackish body, tiny off-white head. Chestnut aroma, low plum notes. Erm... maybe low pepper. Really no proper coffee notes in the aroma, which is quite disappointing. Smooth light empty roasty taste, some coffee, bit oily,, bit tart... The body does its best to save it, but taste-wise, it's a ginormous disappointment. I expect far, far more from HF!

0.5 l bottle thanks to Ogi who brought it from the USA, shared with Marko and him. Black, small beige head. Aroma is lightly roasty, malty, chocolate, green pepper from the oxidized coffee. Smooth, medium body, moderate carbonation. Roasty, burnt and intensely astringent. Sweet dark caramel underneath but finishes dry with a burnt aftertaste.
