The English know a thing or two about pale ale. West Coasters know a thing or two about having a good time. Naturally, we kept these facts in mind when we perfected the recipe for English Bay Pale Ale. Tradition is served in the smooth, mild flavour and caramel malt aroma, and that distinctive West Coast character comes through thanks to natural carbonation and careful maturing. The result? A real pale ale with will rise to any occasion.

Amber with a small off-white head. Mild hoppy aroma of peach, tea and herbs. Sweetish fruity flavour with biscuit malty notes

Bottle @ Hallinghansens US Tasting, Odense. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Sweet malty. Caramel, dust and fruit. Bread and paper. Medium to thin body.

My first Granville Island Brewing experience, in a 6-pack at the LCBO. Pours a copper colour with an off-white, creamy head that stays a while and leaves great lacing. Nice grainy and caramel malts with notes of roasted ones. The mouthfeel is slick and the taste is a little watery. A balance of mild hops and burnt malt with the caramel in the background. A refreshing, slightly darker swill that smells decent but lacks flavours.

a fairly empty taste for a pale ale. Better than your average on-tap beer at most places in Vancouver, but that’s not saying much.

nothing but a slight tinge of bitterness. Opens up a little with a bit of caramel. Has a grainy touch and a certain off flavor

Bottle - pours a mild brown. Medium body. Flavour is a little hoppy and malty. Bland, but drinkable.

Had a weird dryness that I think was intentional by the brewer but made the whole ale seem like a fake version of a real ale.... far too simplified and lacking in the complexity of real English ales.

Bottle. Vibrant dark bronze/brown beer with a light fizzy head. The aroma is mildly hopped and very light, and the flavour is lightly hopped and watery. Overall a very gently flavoured beer, average.

Tap. Clear copper color, short head. Some caramel malt in aroma. Bit bitter taste, caramel malt. Ok.
