The reaper has transformed throughout the history of farming and here we pay homage to the original hand held harvesting tool. Just like farm tools evolve as the centuries pass, so do beers. There is no greater challenge than trying to modernize this century old Trappist ale. We use local honey, NC 6-row malt, a dose of Citra hops for bright aroma, and aging on French Oak to create a flavor bomb that will please both the casual beer drinker and the wine aficionado.

On tap at EatBar, pours a murky pineapple gold with a ring of white head. Nose has big honey and candy and schnapps, huge esters, clove and banana. Flavor follows, pineapple, candy, medicinal, some orange pith, lots of candy and bubblegum. Full bodied, sticky and sweet.

Clove and plenty of florals like a, well, burial. A little oak but well integrated. Some apricot. Hazy orange pour with decent head. Sweet finish with a little wood. Tap at Red Apron.

Draft at the brewery taproom during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. Doughy pale bread in the nose, some orange and other citrus aspect. Big sweet flavour, punchy, heavy and sugary, with lots of white bread, alcohol and yeast, some citrus and bubblegum, a dash of wood. Full bodied, chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with strong drying wood, more sugary and doughy white bread. A bit heavy-handed overall.

RBWG14 Trip Rating #87. Draft at the brewery. Pours a clear copper color with a thin white head. Good head retention. Aroma of pale malt, cider apples, honey, yeast. The taste is honey, pale malt, bread, spice, apples, bubblegum. Wood notes are very mild. Medium bodied, a bit disjointed but still very drinkable. Solid beer.

Draft - Honey and fruit esters. Clear gold with almost no head. Lots of honey and some spice, with a light bitterness to balance the sweetness. Long sweet finish that isn’t cloying. Different but awesome.
