What is the essence of a stout? A colour so deep chocolate brown at first glance it's black as night, with a soft white head. An unctuous and enveloping flavour that wraps you up and holds you tight, like your lover on a dark and still evening. A romantic portrait on film, in monochrome.
Monochromatic is an unctuous and creamy stout that's rich and moreish, making you want to return to it like your loved one's arms. Layered with three types of chocolate malt and a good helping of oats and biscuit malt for a comforting base layer, we then added First Gold hops to the boil and whirlpool to add a subtle sprinkling of hedgerow and spice.
Aroma: dark chocolate, lightly roasted coffee, and gentle hedgerow fruits.
Palate: more chocolate and roasty notes, digestive biscuits, dried fruit, and a little snap of spice.
