12 oz bottle, a gift from Ratman. Nose is lightly tart with hints of red wine and very lightly funky. Red brown like a 20 year old wine with a medium beige head. Flavor is tart with red wine in the background.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Alexey’s place. Deep reddish amber-brown. Great aroma of oak, cherries, wine, some vinegar, cobwebs, malt, caramel. Sour and slightly sweetish flavor with caramel, fruits, vinegar, wine, oak, cobwebs. Medium-bodied. Really good stuff.

12 oz. bottle, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma is very complex, with red wine barrels, various wild bacteria, some wood, balsamic and prominent acidity. Flavour matches, with loads of complexity from the various wood, including red wine barrels and oak in general, wild yeast, and medium acidity that is well-suited. Very dynamic and cohesive. Masterful blend here; however, the acidity starts to irritate the throat after a while. Still, excellent very slow sipper.

Bottle shared in Hoboken. Pours mostly clear amber with a creamy, off-white head. The nose has tart berries, leather, wood. Light to medium sweet flavor, fairly acidic, with further tart berries, lemons. Medium bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Tart, cleansing finish with more lemons and leathery berries. Pretty nice.

12 ounce bottle shared by jackl, 11/19/14. Pours a clear copper with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of tart wine, pepper, funk, cherries, candied lemon. The taste is tart cherries, red wine, lemon, candied lemon and a strong tannic note. Medium bodied, strong lingering tartness. 200th sour ale!

The beer is dark brown and seems cloudy, though it’s pretty dark and there isn’t a ton of light. The head is small and beige - dissipates after a minute to just a thin coating of bubbles. The aroma is a mix of Flemish sourness, wine barrel and fruit. There’s a good shot of oak underneath it all. Big on cherries, grapes, strawberries, blackberries. The wine character is quite complex and pleasant. Mild acetic note. Some dusty earthiness. Medium sour and it handles it quite well. Complex fruit and oak comes through without the sourness getting in the way. It’s an interesting and delicious blend of Flemish acidity smoothed out with fruity oak barrels and other sour beeriness. Rather dry. Finish is sour grapes and berries. Musty, earthy yeast character. There might be some darker beer notes in the background. Seems like some soured darker malt and a touch of vanilla. Feel is light. Moderate pucker, which doesn’t get in the way of the beer otherwise. Very tasty stuff.
