Pint can. pours a dark brown--almost black--color with a medium sized tan head that soon vanishes. The aroma is roasted (blackened) grains and perhaps a bit of coffee. the taste is similar to the nose, lots of well roasted grains. bit of coffee and some black walnuts. Palate was on the lighter side and the carbonation soft. Finished medium in duration and dry. Overall: Decent for a dry stout, but also quite forgettable.

16 oz can from Tavour. Aroma of Roston, chocolate malt and soft roasted coffee. Good flavor of charred barley, chocolate, and slight roast. Nice mouthfeel, almost creamy. Hints of black licorice as it warms. Licorice is not my favorite flavor in a stout. However, it’s decent enough to drink.

Can to English pint glass.
Appearance: black in the pour and black in the glass however the head was mostly all bubbles in khaki color once they all popped - well obviously no lace
Aroma: dark roasty malts, roasty coffee tones, some black anise, dark chocolate bitterness, super light char
Flavor: leads with the roasty coffee notes and dark chocolate bitterness then light spicy tones from the anise; finishes the same way with a little bit of dryness
Texture: light to medium bodied - maybe a touch closer to medium; some sessionability; decent smoothness but some of the roast & bitterness gets a bit invasive
Overall: for the most part the most disappointing thing about this beer was the head and if that was the worst thing then ultimately this wasn't a bad beer after all.
