We're pleased to introduce Witzbold, our newest take on the Hopfenweisse style (a hoppy Bavarian-style wheat beer). German for “prankster,” this beer combines traditional Bavarian-inspired elements with bold new hop varieties and techniques.
Brewed with a grain bill of 60% Weyermann Malted Wheat and 40% @weyermann_specialty_malts Pilsner malt, Witzbold is fermented with a traditional Weißbier yeast strain and features Erebus, a new hop from Hopsteiner’s breeding program.
Witzbold pours a cloudy, deep yellow and offers an aroma of candied orange peel, banana, and light clove. The flavor profile includes subtle blueberry notes layered with citrus, banana, clove, and light vanilla, leading to a herbal bitterness and a silky finish.

4 pack at home. Bought at NH welcome center. Cloudy yellow orange brew with foamy head. Nose is cloves and banana and wheat. Tastes of those 3 elements plus peppery and florals notes from the hops. Fun

Not over-hopped, but of course, this is over 4 months old, so that's not surprising. Huge, fruity esters and nutty, rich wheat create the backbone. Just a touch of the less desirable (IMO) clove and bubble gum. Very brightly aromatic; great clarity.
Peppery phenol with good hop bitterness. Soft, slick, nutty wheat with chewiness on the finish. Good depth and attenuation to the malt/wheat. The hops complement the yeast and the lines blur between where each start and end, which works great so that you get a balanced helping of both. A classic, well-executed hefe with extra bitterness and hop character. Not flashy, but the addition of the hops is handled masterfully here.

Can to weizen glass.
Appearance: great looking pale yellow color with substantial cloudiness and a two finger white foamy head which dissipated at a nice pace then left some light messy lace
Aroma: lemony bittersweet hops up front, some sweet wheat and a soft banana estery sweet to semi-spicy undertone
Flavor: does a great job of combining the prior noted aromas to a sweet to bittersweet hoppy and wheaty quality; finishes lemony, wheaty and hoppy bitter
Texture: medium bodied; sessionable; some smoothness with a respectful carb level and nothing distracting anywhere
Overall: really felt, smelled and tasted great sitting out on my deck grilling some brats later for the gf, her daughter and my son. Why of course I would return to this!

16oz can pours a murky gold with some nice, thick white head. Smells like a brewery. Estery, wheaty, banana, grass and straw. Flavor is wheat and grain but oily hop is there. The banana fades gracefully. Creamy finish. Solid.

Draft at Paragon, 4/22/26. Fully hazy lighter orange color, white head, lighter, spotty lacework. Bright herbal, grainy, wheat, grass, orange. Tasty.

Pours hazy yellow into a weizen. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes leaving trailing spots. Meadow and citrus aromas. Crisp with sweet lemon/lime and banana peel front to back. Dry, lasting bitter lemon pith and bananas flambe finish.
