Keg at Bruisin’ Ales. Dark brown with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of strong chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, dark fruit. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, nutty notes, booze. Medium bodied, a bit hot, low carbonation, smooth.

Sample in a flight at the brewery. Pours black, with a small, beige head. The aroma is immediate and unmistakable semi-sweet chocolate, with some coffee and caramel mixed in, and some notes of cinnamon and vanilla. The flavor is overwhelmingly sweet, with very little bitterness to cut it. Heavy body, with a thick, milkshake-esque mouthfeel. This is a very forward and unabashed chocolate stout. It is unbalanced, cloying, and aggressive, and I like it.

Draft - Lots of dark chocolate and cocoa. Jet black with a rich brown head. Bittersweet chocolate that finishes with coffee. An insane but good beer.

Draft at Appalachian Vintner during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours clear, amber-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose has rich chocolate and moderate roasted malts. Big sweet flavor with heavy chocolate character, chocolate syrup, milk chocolate, slight earthy bitterness. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Slightly syrupy. Sweet finish, lightly warming, with lots of chocolate syrup, brownie mix, some dirt and burnt wood. Good.

Tap with Andy Wedge. Pours a reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Huge amount of hot chocolate in the nose. Not all that sweet but tons of swiss miss. Delicious.

On tap at Appalachian Vinter. Pours a clear dark amber brown with a light creamy brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma is full of rich chocolate with some earthy dark grains and a bit of roast. Flavor has an earthy chocolate with a bit of creaminess and dark grains. Tastes a bit like chocolate ice cream.
