From the shadows of a dark and opulent curtain spring the robust aromas of locally roasted coffee and hardy malt. Deep-seated hop bitterness rallies with these conspirators, delivering a well-balanced thrust of assertive flavor to a bland tyrant. Raise a glass in celebration of liberating taste.

Bottle thanks to Brian! Pours black with a brown head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma is full of coffee beans with roasted malts and dark grains for the backbone. Flavor has a bit more creamy dark grains but is still very coffee forward with a strong roasted malt presence.

Draft at Monocacy. Black with nice tan head. Aromas and flavors of sweet coffee, roasty notes, caramel, brown sugar, dark chocolate, a bit of licorice. Full body with a dry finish. Delicious coffee imperial stout.

From the February 2015 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown botte this beer poured a black color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was drysih, malty, roasty and had a brewed coffee note. The flavor was vnailla, coffee beans, dry, roasty, malty and had notes of anise and floral hops. Long finish. Medium body. Meh.

Draft. Very dark brown maroon color, medium tan head. Aroma of huge coffee, light licorice. Taste has more coffee than anything else, but pretty tasty.

A very drinkable coffee bomb. Pours black with good head and lacing. Decent balance of roast and coffee, but not a lot of substance behind it. Watery finish with light bitterness. Tap at meridian pint.

12oz bottle pours an oily, opaque black with some thin, tan head. Nose is pretty nice, tons of fresh roasted coffee, not the cheap coffee either, the kind of coffee which makes you think of dried blueberries and apple cores and tobacco, turbinado sugar, a little cakey, German chocolate. Flavor is the same, dark chocolate, pleasant coffee, brown sugar, some dried fruit, some toast, some molasses. Hides the 8.6% well. Lovely. Massive success for Monocacy.
