Before western Kansas was known for amber waves of grain, it played a vital—yet little-known—role in the atomic age. Beneath these golden wheat fields lie the remnants of temporary airstrips, carved hastily into farmland during World War II. It was here that B-29 Superfortresses, including crews from the Enola Gay, rehearsed for history, practicing high-altitude bomb runs and precision drops with dummy payloads.
This Bavarian-style Hefeweizen is brewed in tribute to that remarkable intersection of agriculture and aviation—where America’s breadbasket became a proving ground for the world’s most powerful weapon. Cloudy and unfiltered, it pours like a Kansas sunrise over a ripe wheat field. Notes of clove and banana float gently over a soft, creamy body.

Opaque and pale, with a thin head. soft, a bit light, but the flavours…those Weihenstephaner bananas, that’s spot on. Ok…they nailed the hard part (the fermentation) but were a slight miss on the easy part (mash)… so drop a proper decoction on this and win a WBC medal?
