Deep, perfectly clear amber and copper coloured body with a bronze glow, all with a fairly thin, single centimetre all tan head. Aroma of alcohol, bitter hops, grapefruit, hay, grass, flowers and a good deal of pungent metal and astringent grain. Medium-bodied; Very rich, floral and slightly fruity hop characteristics show at first, with a big bitterness and relative pungent astringency, all from the hops, but the deep mangoes and especially the grapefruit fruity flavours rise through the rest of the profile, with a light sweetness, mainly from the resin towards the end, and some alcohol noticeable, of course, as well. Aftertaste shows the deep grapefruit, pine, dry malt and a lot of bitterness throughout with a strong punch from alcohol with a grainy profile and some light sweetness - relatively balanced though. Overall, a fairly nice, deep bitter and pungent beer throughout, with a lot of grain, a good fruitiness that adds to the flavour, but interestingly - not the sweetness and at least 8,5 per cent alcohol showing through. Nice, but not perfect, of course. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 02-November-2020 for US$4,99 that made it to the store on 30-September-2020, sampled at my house here in Washington on 16-November-2020.

Great citrus nose on this. Big hoppy aroma. Pours hazy orange with good head and lacing. Good balance. Quite bitter. Tap at brewpub.

Keg at Lost Rhino, 10/23/14. Pours a clear golden with a medium tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of candied citrus, pine, melon hops, toffee malt. The taste is tropical, pine, citrus melon hops, toffee malt. Medium bodied, moderate lingering bitterness.

S&B. Draft. Hazy orange amber color, medium white head. Aroma is fresh mango, grapefruit, pineapple. Taste is sweet tropical fruit. Not overly bitter, but warmingly boozy. Very tasty, but I wish this had a more reasonable alcohol level.

22oz bottle pours a hazy orange with some hazy white head. Nose has a ton of juicy mango, some citrus, pine, soap. Flavor has some instantaneous bracing bitterness followed by a strong tropical fruit sweetness, pine, grapefruit. Big, zesty, sticky finish.

Consumed on premise - 5oz taster. This one poured a clear amber color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma was resin, sweet tropical fruit notes (grapefruit and mango). This one was pretty freaking tasty - mango notes through and through - grapefruits. Alcohol was relatively masked while consuming but soon after cheeks and forehead started to warm a bit - it’s there but I don’t feel like I have to avoid open flames while consuming. Bottle this, please.
