Inspired by NRG pastry chef Tiffany MacIsaac’s wonderful figgy toffee pudding dessert; full-bodied, decadent malt-driven strong ale brewed with 30 pounds of Virginia-grown figs, as well as brown sugar, cinnamon & nutmeg; casked with 5 oz. of bourbon-soaked oak chips.

4oz pour at the brewery comes an oily brown with some cloudy white head. Fruity nose, raisins, booze, caramel, vanilla. Fairly cedary on the nose too. Cakey as well. Flavor is sweet, boozy, caramel, raisins, dates, grapey too, vanilla, fair amount of oak. Quite cedary here as well. Very smooth, slightly herbal finish.

On draft at Bluejacket’s One Year Anniversary celebration. Pours a clear dark cola with a tan head. Bourbon nose. Flavors of cinnamon, oak, vanilla and caramel. Lingering boozy finish.

Cask at the source. Hazy brown color, thick, fine bubble head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of brandied chocolate liqueur. Taste has cocoa, vanilla, light spice, subtle whiskey. Better than the draft offering, but not as good as the last cask with cocoa nibs and coffee.

Cask at the source. Poured a nice light reddish color with a small off-white head. Aroma was smooth toffee, some pitted, dry fruits. Flavor was toffee, brown sugar notes like the regular version. The flavor remained the figs and spices, with a touch of bourbon notes.
