Pours clear light golden color with white head. Grassy aroma with a hint of dough and sweet fruits. Flavors of cereal grains with some grassy hops and a slight bitterness. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Crisp and refreshing.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with an orange glow and a large dense tan head - nice actually! Aroma of strong bananas, yeast, bread, curacao and some light lemons. Light-bodied; Sharp wheat and citrus flavour with a light spiciness and a touch of malt with a tiny bit of sweetness. Aftertaste shows some lighter malt flavours, some citrus and unfortunately a touch of metal. Overall, not such a bad beer - but to me more of a filtered wheat than a kolsch, but not a horrible beer - as I was kind of expecting. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 15-June-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 05-July-2010.

On tap at the Dallas release. Brewer said that he didn’t get the right filters in time so this kolsch is unfiltered. A keller kolsch if you will. Pours with a large white head over a hazy golden body. Aroma is grassy, real spicy noble hops, plastic, rye and grainy. Taste is dry, light, crisp, bready, with a medium strength spicy noble hop character. Medium to light carbonation.

12oz bottle. Pours a light amber color white head. Flavor is mild, mellow, okay, not very over powering, nothinh over the top. Decent, but nothing special.

Pours clear gold with white head. The aroma is mostly grains with a bit of floral hops and acidity. The taste is fresh and crisp with grains and mild malt sweetness fighting off a carbonation enhanced rush of lemon acidity. A nice balance is achieved and persists into the finish with the grains fading leaving malt sweetness, lemon like acidity and a thin layer of floral hops.
Had this again on tap and sadly far from a Kolsch. It was fresh and on tap and had no fresh qualities I’ve enjoyed in this style when served as intended. I guess trips to Colgne have ruined me on US based Kolsch as they all have so far come up short.

Bottle as SommerBrau. Bottled 03/31/09. Clear orange tinged gold color with very little white head. Smells a bit papery. Less than medium body with coarse carbonation. Not much flavor other than light grassy hop. Certainly drinkable. Finishes dry and somewhat bitter.

Location: We have a bunch of these in the metro DC area, I think I’ve prob been to 3 of them, including the one in "Downtown Rockville" that I visit pretty often, I’ve had this one on tap there
Overall Impression: A very drinkable (but unspectacular) summer style beer. You know the type, light and refreshing without a whole heck of a lot of character. Worth a taste on a nice summer day outside, but I prefer the Hefe from here for that exact situation.

tap @ OTH Can I finally get a decent beer by this brewery? Guess this is not it. Pours golden, thin white head. Aroma, iof light malts and caramel, hops, grains and bready. Taste, malty caramel finish, hops, grains, crisp finish, some floral/pine hops add to a weird bitter concoction.
