The Samuel Adams Boston 26.2 Brew is a Gose style ale brewed in partnership with the Boston Athletic Association for the first time for the 2012 Boston Marathon, and was exclusively available in select pubs and restaurants along the marathon route in Boston. Gose is an ancient German style, brewed with over 50% wheat, and flavored with coriander and salt. The result is a light bodied, very refreshing beer, perfect for rehydrating after a marathon! It's like Gatorade for adults!

24 oz Can from Albertson's. Halfway between a gose and a lager. Grainy, malty up front, salt comes in late and clings to the palate. Golden pour with a nice fluffy head, fine carbonation.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a hazy vibrant yellow-gold color with a large foamy yellow white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweetish and yeasty with a bit of lemon. The flavor was tart lemon, yeast and lemonade. Medium length finish. Medium body.

12 oz slim can. Listed as Marathon Brewing Company. Aroma is wheat, lacto, lemony. Pours hazy golden with a one finger bone white head with decent retention. Taste is lightly sweet with just the faintest hints of tartness and saltiness. Flavors of wheat, caramel, light salt. I could use way more salt and tartness here, but it doesn't taste too bad.

12 oz. bottle from Jewel/Osco. So I'll never run a marathon, but I can appreciate sampling a lighter beer in the gose category. Bright clear gold with a touch of orange, under a fizzy head. Salt smell is not much more prominent that the sodium in a soft-water Pilsener. Taste, though, is kind of low key. There's a note of salt and coriander, yes, but it steps on top of a rather mild malt profile. A bit of a grainy taste further down. I think it might need a bit of citrus or hop, but maybe this works better as runner fuel.

12 ounce bottle into perfect pint glass, best before 8/2019. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of lightly tart lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, coriander, peppercorn, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity yeast, coriander, sea salt, moderate pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, coriander, peppercorn, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; coriander spiciness, and light wheat tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, lime, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, coriander, peppercorn, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, wood, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, coriander, sea salt, moderate pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness, and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy/sticky, and lightly saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4%. Overall this is a very nice unsoured Gose. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, coriander, sea salt, moderate pale/wheat malts, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink, with the mellowly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the low ABV. Great balance of clean pale/wheat malts, coriander, salt, and fruity yeast' with solid earthy hop presence/balance. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable and well made offering as expected; but not as far as the style. Basically just tastes like a wheated Kolsch with Coriander/Salt.

24oz can picked up at Harmons. Pours slightly cloudy dark orange, medium sized off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving some light lacing. Wheat, lime, doughy, some mild salt. Decent, not much of a gose though. A let down.

Man, if I ran over two dozen miles and this pint was what greeted me at the finish line...Weird, in that it has a medium body but light beer fizziness and taste; slight wheat ale notes of grass, white bread, and lemon, with a doughy finish cut by brine and a modest floral vein. Pass.
