Superstition forbids whistling in the hops field for fear of summoning the hop devil - a mischievous spirit who can protect the crop or incur a devastating storm on the eve of harvest. Hops farmers traditionally spilled the first pour of beer upon the soil in sacrifice for a good harvest. A glass of Greenhorn - our bright & juicy IPA with its aromatic, balanced bitterness - may be just the thing to inspire this devil‘s favour.

Bright… but kinda dull pale gold. No head. Sticky, okay bitterness, lacks brightness though.

On tap at Strange Fellows, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out bitter pine, grapefruit rind, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is quite bitter, with plenty of piney hop bitterness, some metallic character, and dry biscuity malt. The structure of Strange Fellows’ westies is usually good, but the hop expression is usually dull, as this is. Not sure if this is a hop freshness thing, or something else. Either way, balanced, but not particularly intriguing.

473 ml can. Pours amber with full foamy head. Aromas of dull citrus, pine, soft resin and bready malts. Flavors of lemon, pine, resin and doughy malts. Pretty heavy. Bitter piney finish. Nice.
