Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August!
Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a hint of a gold hue and a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has lots of clove and sweet banana with a wheat backbone. Flavor has lots of clove as well with banana and wheat backing.

On tap at Gordon Biersch, Buffalo, NY. Hazy amber with the expected banana and clove taste; clean and refreshing.

Draft. Hazy light golden body with a short white head. Aroma of banana and clove, toasted grain, light floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, watery/slick texture, lively carbonation. A decent rendition of a German hefe. An acidic tang in the finish after a sweet start. Grainier than better hefes, but still clean enough to be enjoyable.

Doesn’t quite make it into the acceptably decent margin of 2.5. Light banana peel. Pours slightly hazy gold. Light sour finish and a hint of grain even. Tap at brewpub.

Sampled on draft at the Virginia Beach brewpub this beer poured a yellow-golden color with a medium sized foamy white head that left decent lacing - pretty clear for being unfiltered. The flavor was phenol, clove and a hint of banana. The flavor was phenol, clove, a hint of banana and a touch medicinal. Medium length clove and banana finish. Light body. Disappointing.

Draft sample @Syracuse location. Cloudy yellow color some head and lace. Nose and flavor is spot on for the style. Banana, clove and a real nice yeasty backbone. The body is medium and this beer will please most and wheat beer lovers.
