It’s not a smoke beer.
It’s not a tart Berliner Weisse.
It’s maybe a weird saison.
BerlinerRauchSaison. Yes!
Low gravity beer with good presence of wheat. A small layer of smoke malt disappears after a few sips. And light tartness and spice from the Saison yeast.
Refreshing and flavourful at the same time.

The description really nails this down. A rauch, berliner, saison.
Light hazy golden pour, with a small white frothy head. Aroma of light cereal malts, peppery herbs all wrapped in a nice dose of smoke. Loght nots of bacon mingle with the tart wheat, and light fruity esters. This is all over the place, but in a neat intriguing actually pleasant way! Way to go off the charts, super unique beer.

Batch #001 can from my cellar. Nose is flowery and sweet honeycomb up front, with a trailing hint of smoke. Golden yellow with a very big white head. Flavor is lightly sweet with a touch of pineapple-guava petals I used to put in my salads when my mom had her bush, mixed with a hint of char and tartness. Different but drinkable.

16 ounce Ca. Light gold pour with a small creamy white head. Interesting nose has hints of smoke, yeast, wheat and lemon. Flavor follows nose with notes of tart citrus, bread and grassy hops. Light dry finish. Quite unique.

16 oz can poured at Matt’s. A cloudy pale yellow pour with no head. Smokey ham aroma. Flavor is a soft smokey meat with soft saison typical hidden behind. Weird! All I can really say about this one.

Can from city beers. Hazy yellow with a thin head. Aroma of turf and yeast. Flavour is dry tart spiced yeast, smoke, fruit on a tangy finish.

Draft at Hopfenstark Station Ho.st, Montreal. Clear pale gold, white head. Aroma of smoke and sour fruit. Taste is mild smoke, hay, tart fruit. Interesting, but this combination doesn’t really work for me. It does seem like a smoked Berliner Weisse rather than a smoked saison.

Bouteille 750 ml.

Bottle from Firma Bier, dated 07/14, large sample. Clear golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of slight woody smoke, bit campfire, minerally, slight spicy notes, grainy wheat. Spicy and dry in taste, wheat, slight minerally, touch of tartness. Quite flavorful for this low ABV. Good.
