Honduras is one of many South American countries that lay claim to the fermented corn beer Chicha. This version of Chicha was brewed with corn, fresh straw in the mash, and boiled with lemon zest, cinnamon sticks, clove and fresh mint. The resulting brew is mildly spiced in flavor with a zesty refreshing quality from the corn. Pura Vida!

Growler thanks to jackl and shared at Travlr’s 10k celebration. Pours a clear copper with a thin creamy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of big spruce notes, wood, menthol, dandelion, pale bready malt. Taste is strong herbal notes, hay, pale malt, spice. Thin-medium bodied, lingering spice.

Growler shared by Drake, thank you sir. Clear golden color, small white head. Aroma is herbal and slightly medicinal. Taste is sweet hay, light spice. Easily the best Chicha beer I’ve ever had in my entire life.

32oz growler pours a crystal clear gold with some white head. Nose has spearmint, thai basil, some corn, basil seeds. Flavor is odd, quite minty and herbal, tooth paste, loads of basil seed. Astringent finish.

Certainly not a chica in the sense of what I tried several times in the Andes. More like a golden ale, really - which is surprising now that I see the list of ingredients. Light sour finish. Thanks to Drake for sharing this.

Growler shared by Drake at Bluejacket during Travlr’s 10k celebration. Clear light golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of herbal and floral notes, light medicinal and minty notes. Tastes of herbs, spices, citrus, bitter wheat, hops. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty interesting and unique aroma that I haven’t really experienced before.
