We figured the workers living in Williamsville, also known as Hell’s Hole, would have appreciated a few of these refreshing brews. A true Bavarian Hefeweizen, this thirst-quenching wheat beer is made with 2-row brewers malt and heaps of Bavarian wheat. Hopped with three German varieties: Herschbrucker Hallertauer, Spalt and Perle. The hints of banana and clove come from the special Bavarian yeast strain we use

Draft at the source. Cloudy gold, white head. Aroma of banana and clove. Taste is banana, clove, spice, yeast. Finish has a strange fruity sweetness.

Sampled at the brewpub. Unclear golden with a mid size white head. Typical banana and orange fruity on the nose, also some yeast. Tast has more wheat and yeast, less fruity than it smells. Getting a little bit dry to the end. Okay, not bad.

Looks like weizen, some of the normal weizen characteristics are present in the aroma and taste, but tends to be watery, and no finish. Minus for serving with an orange slice. Save that for the Shock Top.

A hazed amber hefeweizen with a thin lacing creamy mocha head. In aroma, sweet orangey banana with light cloves. In mouth, a sweet banana wit faint cloves, again, watery and boring. On tap at brewpub, August 8 2012.

on tap-pours a white ring for a head and cloudy straw gold for a color. Aroma is faint canned fruit cocktail, spice. Taste is metallic pineapple, wheat, spice. Now I find the light less interesting but will leave it as originally rated.

Sample at the brewpub, served with a lemon. Pours a hazed orange-yellow color with a minimal white head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing is evident. Aroma of wheat with some zesty lemon and citrus in the background. Light, clean body with flavors of mild wheat and citrus as well as a touch of yeast. The finish is citrusy with a touch of hops left over. Barely average overall.

draft at the brewpub - This brew is hazy yellow and has a light, citrus and yeast aroma. It tastes of wheat, a little yeast, light citrus, and some good bitterness. I don’t see anyone else mentioning the latter, so I wonder if they’ve changed their recipe. It’s light bodied and has a dry finish.

Draught at the brewpub
Muddy blond color (served with an orange slice, sigh). An extremely yeasty kit-brewed homebrew.
