Inspired by a long Bavarian tradition, Black Mountain is an unfiltered dark lager. Medium-bodied, Black Mountain's taste is a careful blend of dark and caramel malts. Imparting a slightly roasted finish, Black Mountain is a beer for hearty appetites.

Draft in Vegas. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, bread, and caramel, leading to a dry roasted finish.

A dark brown Schwartz bier with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, light nutty caramel malt with light grassy hops, faint buttery notes. In mouth, a light sweet caramel malt with light nutty notes, watery bodied, faint hops, boring. On tap at brewery.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours a dark amber-brown color with a thin beige head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing. Lightly roasty aroma with mild malt and coffee. Medium body with toasted malt, chocolate and mild hops flavor. The finish is lightly smoky with malt and hops flavors that linger a bit. Somewhere between a Dunkel and Schwarzbier, albeit not a great example of either. Average overall.
