This brown ale was brewed to commemorate the Lungevity Everest Expedition. Brian Oestrike the brother of Jackie O’s owner Art, sumitted the unforgiving mountain on May 22nd, 2007. The climb was a vehicle to raise money and awareness about lung cancer. The people of Tibet call Mt. Everest “Chomolungma” this exceptional ale carries on the spirit of the climb. 8 Malts, 2 hops, and twenty pounds of wild flower honey give this ale an exceptional character. Baked muffins, dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, rich honey and earthy subtle hops caress the palate. Booze soaked chocolate raisins round out the warm finish.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very thin, single centimetre tall tan head that fades relatively quickly, especially for the style. Aroma of alcohol, malt, earth, nuts, brown sugar, caramelised sugars, toffee, light chocolate and a dash of honey, with some more rustic qualities like dirt and grainy malts noticeable, but fairly sweet it seems. Medium-bodied; Very nutty and especially earthy tastes show up front with a lot of peanuts and almond flavours with some of the rustic qualities, a dash of light spices and a good deal of sweetness mainly from honey, caramelised sugars and toffee at the very end. Aftertaste shows much more nuttiness and some rustic malty qualities with a light hit of coffee and bitterness, but the sweetness, malt and nuttiness define this one in a good way. Overall, a very nice and robust brown with a good hit of sweetness from the honey and if you like nuts, the almond aspect of this makes it rich and strong, especially for the style. Nice to try and well-recommended, especially in the season! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Ye Old Spirits Shop in Frederick, Maryland on 29-November-2020 for US$3,14 a few minutes after cutting down our family Christmas Tree for the year, sampled at my house in the New Year on 05-February-2021.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast, dark chocolate, wood, spice. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, bitter roast, dry finish, very good.

Jackie O’s Chomolunga Honey Nut Brown Ale 6.5% Russet in color is it’s a wispy light beige head and sweet wildflower honey aroma. Smooth medium bodied with lots of nutty brown malt character. Not wowing but pretty solid.

Keg at Brewdog Reading - my first Ohio beer. Brown with a thin beige head. Rather too fizzy. Fake chocolate and coffee aroma. Touch of vomit. Burnt rum barrels. Maple syrup, walnut and pecan come through in a very dry finish. Got slightly better as I drank more, but not enough. Decent mouthfeel but I don't like the flavour - the hint of vomit lasts to the end. Very disappointing.
