Bomber courtesy of Pete (non-RB) and to some extent GT2. Pours hazy orangish golden with a frothy white head that leaves some trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sweet, estery and phenolic with biscuits, orange zest, plums, green grapes, white pepper, dry soil, cloves, banana bread, sheet metal, hay, slightly sour pears, dry wood, green chili and crackers. Taste is tiny sweet, fruity and phenolic with plums, green grapes, crackers, grapefruit zest, lemon zest, biscuits, lemon hard candy, dry soil, hay, cloves, banana bread, overripe pears, fruit toffee, white pepper, orange peal and dry wood. Mouthfeel is round, tiny tart, tiny boozy, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, tiny sour and slightly fruity with crackers, biscuits, lemon zest, pears, dry soil and hay.

Hazy orange pour - aroma of orange marmalade, clove, tropical fruit, moderate herbal tones - flavor is much less nuanced, with strong bitter herbs, grapefruit pith - some plastic like phenols make things a little less enjoyable - finish is dusty, dry, chalky, some band-aid - meh.

Woah, notes found and even visual evidence that I had it. D’oh. Anyway... Poured a slightly golden color, white head. Aroma was sweet sugary malts, touch of alcohol notes. Flavor was sweet, touch of spices, yeast.

Great, slightly hazy orange coloured body with a golden honey glow and a thin, fast-dying white head and trillions of super small bubbles rising from the sides - nice! Aroma of oak, honeysuckle, hay, grass, light hops and a touch of sugar. Medium to full-bodied; Effervescent feel at first with a lot of hay and grass and herbal flavours, then fading to a strong alcohol and oak taste with a lot of light hops and a strong malt backbone. Aftertaste shows a lot of character with some drying oak and light pepper notes as well, coupled with some light coriander seed and strong alcohol warmth to finish. Overall, a very strong saison and one that has mostly good flavours, but it isn’t hard to miss them! Definitely nice to try, as I think this style should be done more, especially in Spring! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Bon Vivant Market in Smithfield, Virginia for US$6.00 on 14-October-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 21-November-2010.

Bottle shared by obguthr at the 12th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering on 9/18/10. Thanks man! Pours a slightly hazy gold color with a large frothy head. Decent head retention and lacing. Fruity aroma with notes of pear, peach, apricot and plum. The taste is big fruity notes including plum and peach. Some caramel and a bitter hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Pretty nice.
