We're harking back to the earlier days of craft beer with an American Amber ale that's finely balanced between hoppy, bitter and malty sweet. It glows with a reddish, tawny hue thanks to a complex eight malt base that kindles notes of crisp toast, light caramel and rye spice. Moderate additions of Columbus, Centennial and Cascade in the boil, and a delicate Cascade dry-hop for good measure, flicker with citrus, earth and herbal pine.

440ml can. Clear ruby red with a small beige head. Aroma of toffee, caramel malts, some dried fruit and piney hops. Taste of sweet malts, toffee, caramel, biscuit, dried fruits, piney resinous hops, a little citrus rind, light herbal note, light bitterness. Medium bodied, well balanced. Really nice example of the style.

Can from House Of Trembling Madness. Hazy ruby body with a thin beige head. Steady carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of burnt sugar and toffee. Flavour of pine, toffee and hard candy. Medium to full body with a texture. Soft fizz. Rich and hoppy, a delicious beer. I wish this style of beer was more prominent.
